New York man who served 15 years in an upstate prison was free for all of about 15 minutes before he was shot while standing at a train station.
Police
believe the attacker was someone who the newly free man previously
shared information about with authorities, according to the New York
Post.
Authorities say a New York City man was shot within minutes of being released from an upstate prison.
Police say the 33-year-old ex-convict was shot
in the Orange County town of Mount Hope around 10 a.m. Thursday, about
15 minutes after being released from the medium-security prison in
nearby Otisville.
The man managed to get to a nearby train
station, where someone called 911. State police say the man underwent
surgery at Westchester Medical Center. Information on his condition
hasn’t been released.
Authorities say they are seeking two men spotted fleeing the scene in a car with Illinois plates.
Police say the man had intended to take a train back to Manhattan but was offered a ride at the last minute.
