VANDALISM: Court Remands 3 In Prison


The Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday remanded two men, Ola Omosowore, Anthony Adebayo, and a 20-year-old- woman, Motunrayo Lateef, at the Ikoyi and Kirikiri prisons for alleged petroleum pipeline vandalism.

The accused persons were arraigned by the police on a four-count charge of conspiracy and vandalism.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The police prosecutor, Kingsley Ngene,told the court that the accused persons, who allegedly committed the offence on October 17 were arrested by the police at Ilado waterside in Lagos.

Ngene also claimed that the accused persons conspired to tamper with an oil pipeline within the locality, and scoop out large volume of petroleum for illegal sale.

According to him, the accused who were arrested on a tip-off, committed an offence punishable under Sections 1(19), 1(7)(a), and 1(7)(b) of the miscellaneous offences Act, Cap M17, Laws of the Federation 2007.

Following an application for remand by the prosecutor, the trial judge, Justice Saliu Saidu, ordered that Omosowore and Adebayo be remanded at the Ikoyi prisons,while would be remanded at the Kirikiri female prisons.

Justice Saidu adjourned the case to December 1 for commencement of trial.
